Introducing myself

Hello everyone,

My name is Artur Lucman Nogueira Braga, I am a trained psychologist living in Switzerland but originally from Brazil. I have been exposed to Jung's theory and biography since I was a child. My father is a Jungian analyst and my older brother as well. I started studying Jung when I was a teenager and it provoked a big interest in philosophy. In this way, I decided to study philosophy and psychology. I did both degrees at two different universities in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. One of my biggest interests in philosophy was to understand more about the epistemology of Analytical Psychology. This led me more and more to study Kant and then German Idealism. In 2011 I joined a study group about Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit, after that in another group interested in Science of Logic of Hegel and I had the intuition that the debate from Kant to Hegel was very important to understand Jung. During my philosophy BA degree, I had another profound interest: the dialogue of some philosophers from the Kyoto School and western philosophers such as Heidegger, Meister Eckhart, Nietzsche, and Hegel. My thesis for my bachelor's degree in philosophy was about some ideas from some thinkers from the Kyoto School, from negative theology and the dialogue with the philosophy of Heidegger. My interest in the course of psychology was Jung, active imagination, and the practice of clinical work. After I finished both degrees I decided to start a specialization in Analytical Psychology in Brasília and start a master's degree in philosophy. In my master's degree, I decided to dive into Western philosophy. I studied Hegel and new interpretations of Hegel from North American pragmatism. More specifically, with a reading of Robert Brandom's interpretation of Hegel. I have always tried to connect these two worlds, Jung and Hegel, or in other words, try to see Jung's theories in a post-Kantian epistemology. But just about 2019, after I read a book by Marco Heleno Barreto and watched a lecture by Jennifer Sandoval, I discovered the work of Giegerich and I was joyful that the dialogue between Hegel and Jung was not just possible, but had been opened by Giegerich and by ISPDI. In 2019 I met my partner, she is from Switzerland, and in 2023 I moved to Switzerland, where we are living together and where I am working to afford my studies. This year I am starting the official analytical training course at IPPA in Zürich. For me, it is a new phase of my life and I am very happy with the opportunity to continue to study and work with psycho-logy.

Greetings and looking forward to meeting you
